It is an offence under Section 25 of the Election Offences Act for an employer not to grant a “reasonable period for voting, and no employer shall make any deduction from the pay” of the employee who wants to vote. Any employer who refuses to grant leave to an employee can be fined up to RM5,000 or jailed up to 1 year. Please remind your employer or make a police report.
