What qualifies a person to run for parliamentary (MP) or state elections (ADUN)?

To qualify as a candidate for a Parliamentary seat they must be a Malaysian above 18 years of age and residing in Malaysia at the time of candidacy.
To qualify as a candidate for a State seat they must be a Malaysian above 18 years of age or 21 years of age, depending on the respective state’s constitution, and residing in the state (not necessarily constituency) at the time of candidacy.
Is not certified as being of unsound mind.
